Postdoctoral Research Associate - School of Public Health

** Position Summary
** We seek an energetic individual with doctoral-level academic training in Environmental epigenomics or genomics, environmental biostatistics, or related disciplines who has an interest in working at the intersection of environmental epidemiology, multi-omics, and maternal and child health! This individual will have the opportunity to work with data from multiple cohorts for projects including integration of multi-generational
-omics data in relation to prenatal and early childhood environmental exposures on maternal and child health outcomes (with a focus on cardiometabolic health and/or respiratory health). The selected candidate will work in a multidisciplinary collaborative environment and gain training in epigenomics, multi-omics and environmental epidemiology. The position will focus on answering questions related to the biological impact of environmental exposures on health outcomes and the candidate will be expected to analyze complex epidemiologic datasets and utilize an array of software packages to conduct high dimensional mediation analyses, multi-omic analyses, and more.

The candidate will also be expected to interpretate findings and contribute to manuscript writing and grant proposal writing for new interdisciplinary research studies.
The selected candidate will join a dynamic and growing team and will have access to a vibrant research community within the new School of Public Health at WashU in St. Louis, MO, including epidemiologists, data scientists, clinicians and environmental engineers and will be a part of the School of Public Health’s development and future. The opportunity for involvement with the School’s Innovation Research Networks (IRNs), which are at the heart of the School’s research mission, is a key unique feature of this position.

The primary goal of the Planetary Health IRN is to understand how changes to the environment affect human health and find sustainable ways for people to live healthier lives while maintaining the health of the planet that supports us all. There is also the opportunity to contribute to new and emerging cross university research initiatives, including work in collaboration with the University-wide Center for the Environment as well as interdisciplinary projects with the WashU School of Medicine.

Duties & Responsibilities:

* Following instructions and discussions with the Principal Investigator, designs and executes research protocols for analysis of epidemiological data and large scale ‘omics data such as epigenomics, transcriptomics, miRNA, metabolomics, epigenetic aging.
* Analyzes data and writes interpretative reports. Verifies the correctness of the data and code. Organizes data and contributes to submission of code and datasets to approved archives.
* Documents research results and takes a leading role in preparing and submitting papers based on research work for publication and presentation at conferences.
* Assists with grant preparation and reporting as needed.
* Under supervision of Principal Investigator, assists with student mentoring including MPH and undergraduate students.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
