Key responsibilities include:

• Ensure safe and effective use of oncology therapy
• Collaborating with nurses, oncologists, midlevel providers and other healthcare providers to optimize patient care
• Managing drug-drug interactions
• Development of treatment plans
• Supporting patients with education on their medications and chemotherapy treatment plans

The ideal candidate will have:

• A strong background in oncology pharmacy
• Excellent communication skills

PGY1 residency required. (PGY2 in oncology/ambulatory experience preferred)

You’ll work with doctors leading their fields in ground-breaking therapies and with state-of-the-art technologies that ensure your work is of the utmost quality and efficiency. The pharmacy at Barnes-Jewish uses an integrated practice model with more unit-based positions. Here, department staff has access to a number of drug information resources, including many online references accessible from department computers. An on-site drug information center provides support for more in-depth questions.

Evaluates and recommends appropriate drug therapy to achieve optimal cost-effective patient outcomes, by working directly with physicians, other health professionals, and patients. Participates in the development, provision and evaluation of comprehensive pharmaceutical care and quality assurance programs through scholarly activities. Serves as a resource to the pharmacy staff and other hospital departments.

• Assess the overall status of the patient’s health condition and evaluate medication profile for optimal patient outcomes. Monitor therapy and goals of care. Document all activities and communication as appropriate.
• Participate in professional development and research activities.
• Contribute to performance improvement, clinical effectiveness, drug use evaluation, and HSO/BJC committee activities.
• Participate in the education and training of pharmacy staff, residents and students, and serve as a role model and mentor.
• Participate in the identification and implementation of targeted drug cost reduction programs.
