Overview
Cardiopulmonary/Pulmonary Function Technician - Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis.
Role involves performing pulmonary function studies and related duties in the Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine department.
Responsibilities- Prepares and calibrates PFT equipment.
- Collects test samples, performs initial test analysis and advises staff on findings.
- Performs tests according to the American Thoracic Society Guidelines.
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, including objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Assists in process billing, data entry/maintenance and lab equipment care/maintenance.

Hours:
40 hours per week. - Location:
Normal office environment with patient care setting; requires extensive safety training and exposure to blood-borne pathogens and chemicals; protective devices may be required.
- Education:
Associate degree (Required). - Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association or American Red Cross;
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - NBRC;
Respiratory Care Practitioner (Illinois or Missouri licensing as applicable). - Work Experience:
No specific work experience required for this position. - Skills:
Effective written and interpersonal communication;
Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT). - Driver's License:
Not required.
- Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within one month of hire date. Online BLS without a skills assessment component is not sufficient.
- Salary Grade: C12-H;
Salary Range: $29.80 - $46.19 per hour.
