Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (Part-Time) - Ophthalmology
Join the Washington University in St. Louis Department of Ophthalmology as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant. Provide advanced administrative and technical support to the clinical trials team and perform visual screening and technical testing for clinical trial patients.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Perform kinetic and static visual fields tests (Goldman & Humphrey).
- Assist with the clinical work‑up of patients, including detailed patient history.
- Explain general office evaluation and physician instructions to patients.
- Perform gross refractions, keratometry, tonography and tonometry.
- Insert and remove patient contact lenses and provide contact lens instruction.
- Perform Brightness Acuity Test glare testing and PAM (Potential Acuity Meter) testing.
- Perform A‑Scan ultrasound testing.
- Assist physicians with minor surgical procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.
Certifications and Professional Licenses- Basic Life Support – American Heart Association.
- Basic Life Support – American Red Cross.
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) – International Joint Commission of Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology.
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) – Joint Commission of Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology.
- Supervised Ophthalmologic Office – 1 year.

Salary Range$19.21 – $28.85 per hour (C07‑H).
