ONSITE - Inpatient Eligibility Specialist

Location: Mercy Hospital STL – Ballas Campus, Onsite position

This role assists patients seeking alternative financing and/or assistance. You will provide support to patients completing financial statements, Medicaid and other federal program applications, and educate patients on financial policies.

• Assist patients seeking alternative financing and/or assistance; provide support to patients completing and filing financial statements, Medicaid and other federal program applications.
• Document actions taken, answer patient inquiries, and research problem accounts.
• Provide patient education of financial policies and ongoing support for Point-of-Service initiatives focused on uninsured, underinsured and credit risk patients.
• Offer excellent customer service at all times to both internal and external customers; model positive teamwork.
• Perform duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

• Education: High School Degree or equivalent.
• Experience: Prior Revenue Cycle, Healthcare billing or Insurance experience; prior Epic Grand Central or Hospital Billing preferred.
• Other Skills And Knowledge: Personal Computer and Keyboarding skills;
  Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency.
