Health System Specialist (Executive Assistant)

The VA St. Louis Health Care System is recruiting for a Health System Specialist located within the Associate Director's Office. The primary purpose of this position is to provide support to health care management officials by analyzing, evaluating, advising on, and coordinating health care delivery systems and operations.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary liaison to multiple staff offices, serving as the conduit for information flow and managing assignments between such offices.
  • Monitor and manage incoming actions and requests from receipt to completion and closeout.
  • Analyze the subject matter of incoming information for appropriate distribution to internal or external offices.
  • Receive and monitor completed actions or responses, ensuring accuracy against known policies and procedures.
  • Conduct or participate in special information flow studies, analyses, presentations, and briefings as assigned.
  • Conduct analytical studies on particular operational processes, issue topics, or related special projects.
  • Develop position papers and decision documents representing the organization on a variety of complex and sensitive issues such as quality or timeliness of veteran care issues.
  • Communicate with responsible staff agency members to ensure completion of all requested actions and appropriately close out all requests.
  • Work closely with senior management and others in implementing and evaluating policies, plans, and internal operational systems such as correspondence management and information tracking among pertinent offices and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate events hosted by officials, including town hall meetings with internal staff, and manage all logistical items to ensure smooth execution of events.
  • Brief and advise senior management on agenda issues in preparation for activities and meetings, and may represent the office at internal or external activities or meetings.
Qualifications
  • Current Federal employee holding a GS-13 grade, having served 52 weeks at the GS-12 level, or qualified by time‑in‑grade requirements.
  • Undergraduate or graduate education major in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields with coursework in health care administration.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-12 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization, including progressively responsible analytical or administrative, clinical management, or supervisory experience in the health care field.
  • Preferred experience:

    Lean Six Sigma/Project Management, strong professional writing skills, advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills, data analytics/statistician skills, strong workflow analysis/process improvement, and budget management/COR experience.
  • Competencies:

    Analysis and Problem Solving, Analytical Thinking, Communications, Decision Support, Organizational Awareness, Planning and Evaluating.
Base Pay Range
