Performs the primary function of a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room. Maintains accountability for the provision of surgical instruments to the surgical team. Coordinates the care of the surgical patient with other team members. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
OverviewMercy Center for Performance Medicine out‑patient surgery offers state of the art care to patients in need of surgical care. The center consists of 10 operating rooms, 2 minor procedure rooms and 1 cysto suite, making it one of the largest surgery centers in the United States. Equipped with the latest technology. Surgery specialties include orthopedics, urology, plastics, neuro and general surgery.
Along with the operating room, the surgery center includes its own pre/post area, PACU, 23‑hour stay area, SPD and supply chain.
- Maintains accountability for the provision of surgical instruments to the surgical team.
- Coordinates the care of the surgical patient with other team members.
- Maintains patient rights and confidentiality.
- Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
- Primary Aspects:
Anticipate surgeon and operative team needs regarding care delivery, maintain sterile technique and comfort, assist surgeon in a knowledgeable, efficient and courteous manner, utilize preference cards, inspect instruments and power equipment, troubleshoot faults, perform or assist in sterile preps, monitor aseptic techniques, control contaminated supplies.

Education:
HS Diploma or GED. Non‑certified applicants may be considered with acceptable surgical technology experience. - Required Experience:
At least one year of Surgical Tech experience. - Preferred Education:
Surgical Technology experience or a degree in Surgical Technology or completion certification from an accredited surgical technology program. - Certifications:
BLS through the American Heart Association.
