Physical Therapist Assistant, PTA Job Description

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) supports the Physical Therapist in implementing resident‑specific treatment plans.

• Provides direct treatment to patients in accordance with the established plan of care developed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Detects signs and symptoms of both favorable and unfavorable reactions to treatment and reports adverse responses immediately to the supervising physical therapist.
• Accurately and regularly records all pertinent information regarding the Physical Therapy treatment program; documents the need for skilled service in each record entry.
• Consistently performs at the required productivity level, maintaining effective time management according to the daily schedule.
• Attends and contributes to patient care plan meetings for interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Communicates patient’s response to treatment and progress toward established goals with the supervising physical therapist.
• Actively participates in program development and clinical programming, identifying best practices and sharing with the Rehab Team.
• Assists patients in achieving critical outcomes while acting as a trusted partner within the community.
