Senior Research Technician - Ophthalmology

Location: St. Louis

* Performs complex analysis/projects according to research protocols, explaining methods and procedures to other technicians.
* Enters data and maintains current data files on research projects. Monitors data to ensure consistent quality.
* Performs biochemical assays using mouse and human retinal tissue, maintaining mouse colonies with specific genetic modifications, and keeping logs of inventories.
* May perform preliminary statistical analysis of data.
* Organizes and maintains required documentation on lab and/or specimen conditions and develops and summarizes information into usable formats or presentations.
* Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
* Assists in the training and development of technicians, acting as a group leader.
* Acts as a representative for the PI and ensures procedures and protocols are adhered to consistently and effectively meet department's standard. Should exhibit a high degree of independent problem solving and ability to conduct research on assigned projects.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
