Technical Support Specialist II – WashU IT
Apply to join Washington University in St. Louis as a Technical Support Specialist II. This role performs advanced support of desktop and server computer systems and other technology-based systems for University staff, faculty and students.
Position SummaryUnder moderate supervision, responsible for advanced support of desktop and server computer systems, operating systems, software, hardware, networking. May serve as a system owner, technical expert or specialist. Requires strong communication and customer service skills, and ability to use vendor support resources.
Scheduled Hours40 hours per week.
PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
- Daily desktop support: operating system, software, hardware installation and maintenance; evaluate, prioritize, resolve tickets; act as front‑facing liaison and document for Tier 1 Service Desk.
- Provide technical guidance and documentation to level 2 staff and tier 1 and tier 2 user services staff.
- Act as escalation point for advanced technical issues within knowledge domain.
- System administration: maintenance, upgrades, new implementation, consultation and planning.
- Participate in formal and self‑paced training, attend conferences, engage peers to maintain broad understanding of technologies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range$25.47 - $39.49 per hour.
