We are seeking an experienced Postgre
SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and optimize mission-critical Postgre
SQL databases. The ideal candidate will ensure high availability, performance, and security while supporting development and production environments across multiple systems.
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Postgre
SQL database servers in production and non-production environments. - Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies (query optimization, indexing, partitioning, etc.).
- Design and manage database backup and recovery strategies, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
- Implement replication, clustering, and failover mechanisms for high availability and disaster recovery.
- Manage user access, security policies, and encryption to maintain compliance standards.
- Collaborate with development and Dev Ops teams to support schema design, query optimization, and database deployment automation.
- Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide 24x7 on-call support when required.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to database architecture, processes, and procedures.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Postgre
SQL DBA in large-scale enterprise environments. - Strong knowledge of Postgre
SQL architecture
, including WAL, replication, and partitioning. - Experience with performance tuning
, query optimization
, and index management
. - Proficiency with PL/pgSQL
, functions
, stored procedures
, and triggers
. - Familiarity with tools such as pg Admin
, pgBack Rest ,
Patroni
, pg Bouncer
, or pgPool-II
. - Experience managing databases on AWS RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL
, Azure Database for PostgreSQL
, or GCP Cloud SQL (preferred). - Proficient in Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
- Working knowledge of database monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience with migration from Oracle/MySQL to PostgreSQL
. - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible).
- Certifications in Postgre
SQL or cloud database administration.
