Database Administrator

Role Overview

Akkodis is seeking a Database Administrator for a Contract with a client in St. Louis, MO. You will be responsible for designing and maintaining scalable database clusters and supporting automation strategies across global teams. Rate Range: $41/hour to $53/hour; the rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

• Design, deploy, and maintain EDB Postgres, PGD, and AWS RDS database clusters to support large‑scale applications.
• Manage database environments across development, QA, and production, including performance tuning and configuration reviews.
• Plan and execute database upgrades and migrations, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
• Implement backup strategies, apply patches, and optimize database performance through automation and scripting.
• Provide day‑to‑day administrative support for Postgres and AWS Aurora databases, including production support and on‑call rotations.
• Collaborate with global teams and vendors, contributing to strategic planning and defining best practices for cloud‑managed Postgres systems.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 5‑7 years of experience in database administration and infrastructure management.
• Proven expertise in managing EDB Postgres, PGD, and AWS RDS clusters in large‑scale environments.
• Strong scripting and automation skills, with the ability to support global teams and drive infrastructure innovation.
