Team (Project) Introduction

9th Way Insignia is looking for a highly skilled Service Now Developer to design, develop, and implement solutions within the Service Now platform for the United States Patent and Trade Office (USPTO). The ideal candidate will have experience configuring and customizing Service Now applications, automating workflows, and integrating with third‑party systems to enhance business operations. This role requires a strong understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM), IT Operations Management (ITOM), IT Asset Management (ITASM), and other Service Now modules.

An Engineer 2 typically plans and directs research or development work on complex projects, engaging various parties in design and development. Cost and recommendation of new components may also be part of the job scope. Performs multiple engineering‑related tasks in various assignments within the project and firm.

Responsibilities
  • Design, configure, develop, and implement Service Now solutions based on business requirements.
  • Customize Service Now applications, including workflows, UI policies, business rules, client scripts, and ACLs.
  • Develop and maintain integrations between Service Now and other enterprise systems using REST/SOAP APIs.
  • Implement Service Now modules such as ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, Sec Ops, and CMDB.
  • Perform system upgrades, patches, and releases in coordination with Service Now best practices.
  • Work closely with Product Owners, Business Analyst, and stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and demo completed configurations.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system design and configuration guides.
  • Troubleshoot issues, debug scripts, and provide ongoing support to ensure platform stability.
  • Follow Agile development methodologies and participate in sprints, standups, and retrospectives.
  • Stay up-to-date with Service Now features, releases, and best practices.
Requirements
  • Education:

    Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or 5 years equivalent work experience).
  • Experience:

    3+ years of hands‑on experience as a Service Now Developer.
  • Strong expertise in Service Now scripting (JavaScript, Glide API, Jelly, Angular

    JS).
  • Experience with Service Now integrations using REST/SOAP APIs, MID Server, and OAuth.
  • Familiarity with Service Now Flow Designer, Workflow Editor, and Business Rules.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and how they align with Service Now ITSM.
Preferred/Desired

Service Now certifications (e.g., Certified System Administrator, Certified Application Developer, ITSM Implementation Specialist).

Salary Range $108,000—$131,000 USD

Clearance/Background Investigation

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
