Job Summary

The Driver is responsible for providing transportation to members and staff for participation at club locations and special trips, such as field trips or sporting events, to enhance BGCSTL programs and achieve predetermined program outcomes.

Qualifications
  • High‑school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with children in a group setting; management experience is a plus.
  • Successful completion of a pre‑employment drug screen and ongoing random drug testing.
Licensing Requirements
  • Current, certified, valid Commercial Driver's License with Class C endorsement required;
    Class B endorsement is preferred.
  • No more than 3 moving violations in the past three years (no alcohol or drug related convictions).
  • Ability to drive organization vehicles and meet insurance guidelines.
  • Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services Medical Examination Report for Caregivers and Staff must be within 30 days of hire.
  • TB Risk Assessment and Examination completed within 30 days of hire.
  • Annual background screening results acceptable to the State of Missouri and to Boys & Girls Clubs or America.
  • Meet state licensing regulations and training requirements (12 hrs annually).
  • CPR/AED & First Aid certified within 30 days of hire.
Physical Requirements
  • Submit current medical examiner's certificate and/or variance documents to state driver agency for certified medical status.
  • Able to lift, carry, push, pull, or roll up to 55 pounds.
  • Capable of prolonged, extensive, or considerable sitting, standing, walking, and speaking; occasional twisting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Ability to walk on uneven terrain, school grounds, and school buses.
  • Must communicate effectively in voice; deep ears for discerning sounds at normal speaking levels.
  • Exposed to various weather conditions; must tolerate noise levels requiring speaking loudly.
  • Local and some regional travel required.
Emotional / Mental Demands Of Work
  • Proficient in English for communication and documentation.
  • Routine evaluation of bus conditions, reporting, and record‑keeping.
  • Identify and report problems promptly; gather and analyze information skillfully.
  • Understand implications of decisions on members; handle emergency or crisis situations.
  • Manage interruptions without losing concentration.
  • Some weekend work required.
  • Maintain voicemail and e‑mail; attend all meetings and events; notify staff before missing any.

  • Conduct thorough pre/post bus inspections.
  • Perform emergency evacuation and exit procedures.
  • Complete police reports for vehicle damage.
  • Perform minor maintenance such as changing oil.
