About This Role:
Axsome Therapeutics is seeking a Regional Business Director (RBD) to lead commercial activities for an assigned geography, establish a team of Account Managers, execute marketing strategies, and support a successful launch. The RBD will supervise and lead a sales organization that leverages a sophisticated digital infrastructure, with all sales representatives aligned to geographical boundaries. The RBD is responsible for regional sales performance and will act as a product champion with knowledge of the local landscape to assess stakeholders and marketplace trends.
This is a cross-functional frontline leadership role to promote AUVELITY for major depressive disorder in adults and potential future indications. The position is field-based and requires travel as needed to develop internal and external relationships.
- Supervise operations of the Region, including driving results, hiring and coaching, account manager development, performance management, and prioritization of key accounts within the medical community
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the Region, balancing live and virtual interactions and prioritizing team efforts
- Plan, organize and drive regional performance through coaching and influence of direct reports
- Establish and maintain effective communication within the Region across cross-channel stakeholders in Accounts and Market Access
- Maintain required technical expertise to respond accurately to questions regarding products, marketing, policies, and business-related issues from customers and account managers
- Work with direct reports to understand and execute established expectations
- Coach and mentor direct reports to improve selling skills and product knowledge; lead by example in live and virtual engagements
- Plan and conduct action plans and other meetings with Region and Market Access teams
- Develop and implement Region business plan, manage Region budget, and oversee P&L at Region level in alignment with regional and national expectations
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies, and processes by self and team
- Overnight travel as needed
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
- BA or BS required; advanced degree preferred
- 5+ years of field leadership experience and/or payer account management and/or demonstrated sales success with increasing responsibility
- Pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical marketing/sales experience preferred with 3–5 years in a first-line leadership role
- Proven ability to lead others to success through coaching
- Demonstrated track record of delivering results and developing others
- Proven ability to attract and retain top talent
- Current or recent Psychiatry disease experience strongly preferred
- Successful launch experience strongly preferred
- Experience to strategize within teams using differential resources to reach goals
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight timelines in a dynamic environment
- Must live within the territory
- Comfortable with uncertainty and high expectations
- Patient support services experience a plus
- Strong digital marketing aptitude
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
The anticipated salary range for this role is $165,000 - $205,000. We encourage candidates of all levels to apply, as there may be flexibility on title and responsibilities. The offer will be based on factors including experience, qualifications, internal equity, and location.
