About the OpportunityOur client is a well-established and highly respected environmental consulting, contracting, and engineering firm serving clients where environmental compliance, remediation, and strategic land and facility use are mission‑critical. The organization is growing through both organic expansion and acquisitions and is seeking a General Manager to help take the business to its next phase.
What You’ll DoAs General Manager, you will oversee day‑to‑day operations while executing the firm’s strategic plan and scaling the organization.
Key responsibilities include:- Full P&L ownership across consulting and contracting business lines
- Overseeing operations, project delivery, and post‑acquisition integration
- Driving growth through collaboration with Seller‑Doers and regional leaders
- Leading and tracking KPIs for revenue, margin, utilization, client retention, and safety
- Implementing standardized SOPs, systems, technology platforms, and shared services
- Overseeing HR, recruitment, performance management, and leadership development
- Serving as a cultural integrator, reinforcing communication, accountability, and values
- Acting as a strategic operator with a hands‑on, people‑first leadership style
- Regional travel up to 25%

- BS/MS in Engineering (PE required)
- MBA preferred
- 10+ years of experience in professional services, ideally environmental or engineering consulting/contracting
- Proven success scaling multi‑office or multi‑service organizations
- Experience with acquisitions and post‑merger integration
- Strong financial acumen and a track record of profitable growth
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop both technical and administrative teams
- Familiarity with environmental consulting, remediation, or related services
- Established network in the Midwest market preferred
- Total compensation: $150,000–$200,000 (base salary + performance incentives)
- This role is designed for growth. As the firm’s value, profitability, and scale increase, the successful candidate will be eligible for future equity participation.
