Senior Vice President – Commercial HVAC & Plumbing – St Louis

Gryphon Oakwood is seeking a Senior Vice President of Operations to lead and optimize all aspects of the business across new construction, retrofits, and service. The candidate will support a leading mechanical contractor based in St Louis, Missouri, with a strong reputation in HVAC, plumbing, hydronic piping, and refrigeration for commercial facilities such as data centers, healthcare, life sciences, and higher education.

• Lead and optimize all operations across new construction, retrofits, and service.
• Oversee delivery of complex mechanical projects (HVAC, plumbing, hydronic piping, refrigeration) across data‑center, healthcare, life‑sciences, and higher‑education markets.
• Drive operational strategy, execution excellence, and margin performance.
• Develop and lead senior operations teams, fostering a strong culture of safety, accountability, and performance.
• Implement standardized processes, KPIs, and best practices to support scalable growth.
• Lead pre‑construction, estimating, and business development to ensure successful project execution.
• Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
• Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic initiatives and growth objectives.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field (MBA preferred).
• 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in mechanical contracting or construction operations.
• Proven executive oversight of HVAC, plumbing, hydronic piping, and/or refrigeration operations.
• Experience delivering projects in data‑center, healthcare, life‑sciences, or higher‑education environments.
• Strong financial acumen, including P&L oversight and forecasting.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, scale, and develop high‑performing teams.
• Strategic, results‑driven leader with strong communication skills.
