• Inspect, measure, adjust and test completed metal work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications.
• Read blueprints, work orders or production schedules to determine product or job instructions or specifications.
• Assemble, align and clamp work pieces into holding fixtures to bond, heat-treat, or solder fabricated metal components.
• Set up, operate, and maintain welding machines/equipment that join or bond components to fabricate metal products or assemblies.
• Heat and grind metal parts and components using hand tools, torch, or other welding equipment.
• Fabricate and fit substrates as required.
• Monitor the welding, burning and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with all safety procedures, rules and regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Education – High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience – 3 years of stick welding experience; experience working in shipyards or industrial environments preferred.

  • Intermediate to advanced mechanical maintenance understanding.
  • General knowledge of many types of tools.
  • Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to read and understand measurements and follow instructions.
  • Ability to complete documentation requirements.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to lift, push, pull 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel and squat occasionally.
• Ability to work around water and in confined spaces.
• Ability to use manual dexterity for small objects.
• Ability to work outside in extreme weather conditions.
• Use of PPE required.

$24.00 – $30.00 per hour.
