Job Summary

The Registered Nurse is a professional practitioner who assesses, manages, directs, and provides nursing care activities during the patient’s hospital stay and coordinates planning with other disciplines utilizing a patient/customer driven approach.

Responsibilities

Performs comprehensive nursing assessment/reassessment,
including age‑appropriate admission or transfer assessment, documentation, and post‑op/post‑invasive procedure patient assessment.

Establishes, coordinates, and evaluates a plan of care based on assessment data, patient diagnosis, lab data, orders, protocols, and relevant information.

Provides and documents nursing interventions based on the plan of care and changes in patient status, including collaboration with the health team, medication administration, IV fluid management, referrals, consultations, education, and discharge planning.

Documents and communicates nursing care and changes in patient condition, evaluates effectiveness, and reports significant changes or problems promptly.

Provides specialized care to high‑risk patients, including restraint care (initiation, monitoring, documentation), pain management, and abuse assessment.

Maintains accountability for own professional practice, adheres to quality and performance standards, participates in learning and governance activities, and demonstrates ability to adapt to changing work demands.

Supports coworkers professionally, orients new employees, maintains a collaborative team approach, and supervises students or new staff as required.

Performs job in accordance with safety and infection control policies, maintains a safe environment, and completes mandatory annual requirements such as licensing, certifications, and training.

Provides service excellence, demonstrates courtesy and confidentiality, collaborates effectively, and manages resources efficiently.

Incorporates performance improvement and evidence‑based practice into individual professional practice through participation in unit, department, and hospital initiatives.

Provides age‑appropriate care to adult and geriatric patients, utilizing age‑specific knowledge and communication skills.

Ensures cost‑effective service delivery through resource efficiency, chargeable supply documentation, and timely completion of responsibilities.

Job Specifications

Minimum Education:

Licensed to work as an RN in the state of Missouri.
Working Conditions:

May be exposed to blood‑borne diseases, unpleasant situations, emergencies, and irregular hours.
Physical Requirements:

Occasional prolonged standing/walking, lifting and transferring patients, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
