Travel RN - Psychiatric

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Behavioral Health RN for a locked inpatient unit treating adult and geriatric psychiatric patients, requiring a MO or compact RN license, BLS, CPI, and Epic experience.

Job Details

• Position is in a hospital behavioral health unit specializing in adult and geriatric psychiatry,

• Work involves treating patients age 18 and older with primary psychiatric diagnoses and medical co-morbidities,

• Patient ratio is 1:6,

• Patients may require pre-op preparation for ECT, have dementia, depression, Parkinson's disease, bipolar disorder, or anxiety,

• Required to work three 12-hour day shifts weekly (7:00 to 19:30), including every other weekend,

• No on-call required,

• Floating may occur within all behavioral health units based on need,

• Epic EMR is used and prior experience is required,

• Facility is a Magnet designated, Level I Trauma Center, and teaching hospital,

• Navy scrubs are required,

Job Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license,

• Minimum of 1 year recent inpatient behavioral health nursing experience,

• Current BLS and CPI certifications,

• Experience with adult and geriatric behavioral health, medication administration (PO, rectal, IM, IV, SC), starting and maintaining IVs, blood glucose monitoring, and Foley catheter insertion/maintenance,

• Epic EMR experience required,

• No local candidates within a 75-mile radius,

• Pending license may be accepted,

• Returning permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to this health system as a traveler,

• No more than 7 days of requested time off for a 13-week contract; no RTO allowed in the first week of orientation,

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include direct psychiatric nursing care, medication administration, IV starts, restraint application, and supporting a safe milieu,

• Will serve as charge nurse as needed,

• Team provides care to complex behavioral health patients with medical and mobility issues,

• Must be comfortable working in a locked unit setting,

• Holiday and weekend coverage required as scheduled,
