Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry night shift position requiring at least 1 year of tele/cardiac tele experience and ACLS certification.

Details
  • 32-bed Cardiac Telemetry unit in a fast-paced, high-acuity hospital environment
  • Night shift, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • No call requirements
  • Patient ratios vary, estimated 1:6-1:8 on nights
  • Floating required as needed to similar or lower acuity units
  • Unit uses lift equipment, bladder scanners, interpreter iPads, and BiPAP monitoring
  • Monitor techs and bedside tele monitors assist with patient surveillance
  • EMR:
    Epic
  • Night shift orientation occurs on day shift, requiring full-week availability
Requirements
  • Active RN license, eligible for or currently licensed in Missouri (or compact)
  • BLS and ACLS certification from AHA required
  • Minimum 1 year of inpatient tele or cardiac tele experience required
  • Experience reading telemetry and managing CHF, chest pain, renal, and hemodialysis patients required
  • Experience with Amiodarone and Cardizem drips required
  • Experience with central lines including HD caths, ports, and PICCs required
  • Experience with Tikosyn and Sotalol initiation preferred
  • Experience with dopamine, dobutamine, lidocaine, nitro, and milrinone drips preferred
  • Experience with chest tubes, other drains, and CIWA withdrawal protocol preferred
Additional Information
  • Care for patients with CHF, chest pain, arrhythmias (AFib, flutter, SVT), respiratory and renal conditions, and hemodialysis needs
  • May also care for overflow patients including sepsis, urology, surgical, ETOH/drug withdrawal, isolation, and GI bleed cases
  • Perform direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for all age groups
  • Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize comfort and outcomes
  • Scrub requirement: black tops and pants with Mercy cross logo on left chest; approved undershirt colors include black, white, yellow, green, red, and blue
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1, with no declinations accepted
  • RTO of 5 days or less allowed, must be made up during the assignment
  • Only 1 holiday RTO request permitted per assignment
  • Position located at a Level 2 Trauma Center with Comprehensive Stroke Center and Level 1 STEMI Center designation
