American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Oncology Chemo Certified Med/Surg position requiring BMT experience and ONS biotherapy or immunotherapy certification.
Details- Work on a 7N Med/Surg, Oncology, Telemetry, Progressive High unit in a Trauma Level I hospital
- Patient diagnoses include heme/oncology, oncology, bone marrow transplant, and med/surg cases
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Every other weekend required
- Float required to Med/Surg and Med/Surg/Telemetry units as needed
- Holiday coverage required for 4 of 8 designated days:
Thanksgiving Eve, Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, 12/26, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
- Active RN license (Missouri or Compact) currently in hand
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Current certifications: BLS required, ACLS preferred
- Required certification: ONS Biotherapeutic OR ONS Immunotherapy certification
- BMT (bone marrow transplant) experience required
- CAR-T cell experience preferred
- Trauma Level I hospital experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Epic charting system experience required
- EKG exam required as part of clinical assessment
- Skilled in IV therapy/infusions, port access and management, and central/implanted line care
- Experience administering blood and blood products
- Experience administering and monitoring chemotherapy, including continuous infusion and post-chemo body fluid handling preferred
- Knowledge of isolation precautions, PPE, and neutropenic precautions
- Travel healthcare experience required
- Provide direct patient care in an inpatient oncology/PCU setting for heme/oncology, oncology, BMT, and med/surg patients
- Must shave facial hair to ensure proper fit testing seal; CAPRs/PAPRs are not provided and personal devices are not permitted, with no medical or religious exemptions
- Candidates must complete an OSHA Respirator Clearance prior to starting
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Candidates living within 70 miles of the facility are considered local and are not accepted for this position
- Clinicians cannot work more than 1 consecutive year as a traveler and must take a 6-month break before returning
- First-time travelers are not considered for this position, as travel experience is required
