American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department role requiring 2+ years of ED experience and a MO or compact RN license.
Details- High-acuity Emergency Department with an average daily census of 97 and 26 beds
- Approximately 26 patient visits per day
- Adult and geriatric patient population, with 40% of patients over age 60
- High admission rate with 40% of patients admitted
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 each shift, including weekends
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15, with potential for 14:45-03:15 as needed
- Every other weekend coverage required
- Primary Stroke Center providing TPA administration
- Level 1 STEMI heart center designation
- Non-trauma facility managing Level 3 trauma patients
- ESI acuity mix includes 23% Level 1-2 patients and 6% Level 4 patients
- Performs moderate sedation, chest tubes, intubations, central lines, and defibrillation/pacing
- Floating required within service line
- Active MO or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, STEMI, NIHSS
- Preferred certifications: TNCC, CPI, ENPC, SANE
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Conscious/moderate sedation competency required
- Triage and ventilator management experience preferred
- Prior travel assignment experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, and central line care
- Experience managing dysrhythmias and cardiac monitoring
- Experience with psychiatric patients including acute psychosis and suicidal patients preferred
- Provide emergency nursing care across a wide range of acuity levels, including stroke and STEMI patients
- Perform TPA mixing and administration as part of stroke care protocols
- Navy blue or grey scrubs required
- Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
- Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
- Additional RTO requests cannot be accommodated after submission or during the assignment
- Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
- Standard travelers may work up to 18 months at this facility before requiring a 3-month break in service
- Facial hair must allow for proper respirator fit testing; shaving required if necessary
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
