Deli / Seafood Cooks work as part of the Deli / Seafood team, focusing on cooking. The majority of their shift involves cooking, but they may also perform Deli / Seafood Associate duties:

  • Prepare and cook products in a warm kitchen with temperatures of oil and ovens up to 500 degrees
  • Follow safe food handling guidelines according to S.A.F.E. program standards
  • Maintain appropriate temperatures and prevent cross-contamination during production and storage
  • Have strong knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation procedures
  • Work safely and adhere to safety standards
  • Learn and promote a variety of deli and seafood products
  • Process customer orders accurately and efficiently
  • Work in temperature-controlled environments (refrigerator, freezer, hot food prep)
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Use suggestive selling techniques to promote products
  • Operate and clean equipment safely, including knives, slicers, fryers, rotisseries, smoker, skewers, ovens, frying pans, hot case, microwave, steamer, chicken warmer, wrappers, cheese grater, and scales
  • Prepare party tray orders following specifications
  • Weigh, wrap, and label products
  • Cut meats and cheeses with electric slicers according to requests
  • Fill deli salads and display in the deli case
  • Rotate products and check expiration dates
  • Essentials

    • At least 18 years old
    • Strong knowledge of food handling and sanitation
    • Ability to read food specifications, follow recipes, charts, invoices, and temperature gauges
    • Basic computer, math, and measurement skills
    • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays
    • Prompt and regular attendance
    • Adherence to dress code, appearance, and personal hygiene standards
    • Hepatitis A vaccination (MO only)
    • May be cross-trained in other departments

    Physical Requirements

    • Lifting & Carrying up to 50 lbs occasionally
    • Pushing & Pulling up to 20 lbs force occasionally
    • Occasional sitting, walking, kneeling, stooping, squatting, climbing, overhead reaching, shoveling
    • Frequent head turning, bending, reaching, grasping, pinching, finger manipulation, feeling
    • Constant forward reaching, standing, handling
