Join our team as a Shortage Control Associate while ensuring a safe & secure shopping environment and delivering exceptional customer service.
As a Shortage Control Associate (SCA), you safeguard our store’s security at entrances, exits and high‑risk areas. You maintain a professional appearance, command presence, and communicate theft prevention strategies to management and staff.
Responsibilities- Maintain a professional appearance at all times, wearing the designated dress standards, radio and earpiece.
- Stand positioned at the front of the store, remaining vigilant and aware of surroundings.
- Greet every customer entering or exiting the store with a warm smile and a loud, friendly greeting.
- Create a secure environment and reduce opportunities for theft.
- Monitor the entrance for the entire duration of each shift, identifying suspicious patrons or theft opportunities.
- Provide support in training associates on shortage reduction programs and processes.
- Report theft incidents or suspicious subjects to the Manager on Duty.
- Conduct bag and package checks on store and corporate associates, ensuring adherence to safety and security standards.
- Possess mastery of top shortage areas and support programs aimed at theft reduction.
- Effectively communicate information about theft prevention during store rallies and collaborate with the Manager on Duty.
- Understand the role you play in keeping the store and assets safe and secure.
- 1+ years of experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, asset protection, loss prevention or operations (preferred).
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and visually monitor the store environment.
- Strong confidentiality skills.
- Ability to review, analyze and comprehend business trends.
- Positive demeanor, strong posture, and energetic greeting.
- Discipline and decisiveness in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
- Excellent communication with customers and co‑workers.

Benefits:
Competitive wage, flexible hours, associate discount. Part‑time associates can be eligible for Burlington's benefits package, including medical coverage and a 401(k) plan. Eligible associates may receive up to 4 hours of paid time off per year after one year of service, up to 8 paid holidays, and paid sick time in accordance with applicable law.
Base Pay: $15 per hour.
