Job Title:
Biologist – Controlled Environment
The Plant Biologist supports research activities focused on understanding plant growth and development under varying environmental and physical conditions. This role involves hands‑on work with row crops such as canola, corn, cotton, and soybeans in controlled environments, including greenhouses and growth chambers.
Responsibilities- Sow seeds and manage plant care throughout growth stages.
- Perform transplanting, harvesting, and seed processing.
- Discard plant material and maintain cleanliness of work areas.
- Monitor plant health and environmental conditions.
- Maintain detailed records of plant care and experimental procedures.
- Assist with routine greenhouse and growth chamber maintenance.
- Participate in rotational weekend work as needed.
- Experience with plant care in a greenhouse or other growth chamber.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and work in varying temperatures.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Biology, Horticulture, or related life sciences.
- Commercial greenhouse experience is a plus.
Work is conducted in controlled environments such as greenhouses and growth chambers. There is exposure to elevated temperatures during warmer months. The position requires standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks. The role operates in a collaborative setting under general supervision, reporting to a supervisor or manager. Creativity and adaptability are encouraged for problem‑solving and task execution.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 – $24.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
