As a Missouri Botanical Garden Security Officer, you will provide a visible, unarmed security presence to ensure the safety and security of staff, visitors, and property by patrolling grounds, inspecting premises, and manning assigned posts.

Schedule:

Shift: 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Alternate Shift: 11:00 pm - 7:30 am

• Security Officers work a rotating schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Pay: Starting at $19.00 per hour, with a shift differential of $2.50 per hour.

Responsibilities (Highlights):

• Patrol premises on foot, bike, Segway, or Garden vehicles.
• Respond to medical emergencies and administer First Aid/CPR/AED as needed.
• Monitor property entrances and authorize access.
• Detect and report suspicious activities threatening safety.
• Secure all exits, doors, and windows.
• Monitor surveillance cameras and respond to alarms promptly.
• Conduct periodic testing of alarms and safety equipment.
• Complete surveillance reports daily.
• Identify safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
• Provide excellent customer service to visitors, volunteers, and employees, including motor vehicle assistance.

Qualifications:

• Valid driver's license and ability to pass background and MVR screening.
• Minimum 2-3 years security experience; experience in public venues preferred.
• Knowledge of legal safety guidelines.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.
• Excellent surveillance and observation skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain chauffeur's and security officer's licenses within 2 months.
• Ability to obtain CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications within 2 months and renew annually.
• Effective time management, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
• Comfortable working in close proximity to the public and in varying weather conditions.
• Willingness to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
