POSITION TITLE: General Maintenance Technician
REPORTS TO: Director of Physical Facilities and Stationery Engineering
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY: The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the facility and equipment safely and efficiently.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe following information is considered the definition of essential functions, but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. The General Maintenance Technician may be reassigned duties and responsibilities at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other staffing reasons.
- Oversees and performs repairs and general maintenance needs to the health center buildings according to work orders or verbal instructions. Identifies and requests parts and components needed to complete tasks.
- Works with vendors, contractors, and factory representatives in regards to the repair and replacement of equipment.
- Assists contractors and other personnel with connections and shut-offs for water and fire systems.
- Performs plumbing, and electrical repairs including, but not limited to: changing light bulbs, replacing ballasts and installation of light fixtures.
- Performs carpentry and minor construction projects including, but not limited to installation and or repair of drywall, walls, flooring, ceramic tile, cabinetry, ceiling tile, countertops, shelving, and painting.
- Assists environmental techs when needed in maintaining a clean and safe work environment including, but not limited to: debris/trash removal, heavy lifting/moving of materials and equipment, floor-sweeping and material storage.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Assists stationary engineers when needed for evening work for equipment that requires it.
- Comfortable working both independently and in small team.
- Must have reliable transportation

Physical demand such as the ability to walk, sit, stoop, reach, grasp, talk and hear etc, the employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to blood and blood-borne pathogens and/or physical risks, which will require OSHA training.
Work environment for this position operates in a medical/clinical and outside environment. This role routinely uses standard Environmental equipment such as phone, computers, mops & buckets. This position environmental/atmospheric condition is of some extreme temperature fluctuations based on the type of weather conditions (i.e. winter cold, and summer heat) office and outside conditions, some temporary temperature fluctuations. May work at more than one CARESTL HEALTH's site as requested;
site assignments may change periodically. This position may require occasional overnight travel, evening and/or.weekend hours.
