Position: Seal Repair Technician at OTC Industrial Saint Louis, MO
Location: St. Louis

Seal Repair Technician

Competitive Pay: This position offers an hourly wage ranging from $25.00/hr. to $32.00hr., depending on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble, install, and test mechanical seals, gaskets, and related components in various systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair defective seals, identifying root causes of failures.
  • Measure and prepare seals for installation, using precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Document and maintain service records, including test results and repair actions.
  • Collaborate with engineers on seal findings and other technicians to improve seal performance and system efficiency.
  • Follow safety and environmental regulations when working with machinery, chemicals, or hazardous materials.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or training in a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with mechanical seals, hydraulic systems, or related mechanical components is a plus.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with seal repair and reconditioning tools such as lathes, surface grinders, lapping tools, and test fixtures.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel for on-site repairs or installations (5% to 10%).
  • Knowledge of various sealing materials and their applications (e.g., elastomers, metals, composites).
  • Commitment to continuous education through annual seal and material science theory and application courses with vendors or online learning.
  • Understanding of industry standards and specifications for seals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client interaction and teamwork.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision, and capable of meeting deadlines.
