General DescriptionPerform a variety of carpentry tasks associated with the preparation, pouring, placement, and finishing of concrete. This includes erecting and setting forms for concrete structures, foundations, buildings, and site work per specifications and drawings. Tasks may involve working with concrete tilt-wall forms, Symon forms, and other structural forms for columns, decks, elevator cores, parking garages, and other cast-in-place concrete structures.
Responsibilities- Read and understand drawings and prints.
- Build and assemble wood or metal forms for concrete floors, slabs, walls, columns, tilt-walls, elevated slabs, elevator cores, stairways, and more.
- Set and place forms to proper elevations and locations; assist in installing reinforcing steel.
- Use a variety of forming systems, primarily Symon forms.
- Verify accuracy of structures with a plumb bob, carpenter’s level, laser, or digital transit.
- Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
- Communicate with Foreman, Riding Boss, or Project Manager regarding any problems, material needs, or safety hazards.
- Ensure equipment is in safe working condition.
- Signal concrete deliverer to position truck for pouring, when necessary.
- Observe and comply with all safety policies and guidelines.
- Assist with placement of concrete as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma.
- At least one to three years of experience in concrete construction.
- Experience in construction or contracting industry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Stand, stoop, bend, and crouch for extended periods up to ten (10) hours per day.
- Lift up to 50 lbs and carry forms.
- Eligible to join the local Union, as required.
- Work safe at all times.
- Exposure to the elements – heat, cold, rain, wind.
This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement. Applicants who are selected will be required to join the appropriate union within a certain period after hire. Details of union participation will be given to employees upon hire.
