Purpose of position
The Covenant House Missouri (CHMO) welcomes youth who are runaway, trafficked, at-risk, or experiencing homelessness with unconditional love, respect and a place to call home. Beyond shelter and basic needs, CHMO delivers transformative solutions to help young people ages 16 to 24 build productive, independent and sustainable lives.
The position is the central hub of traffic flow at Covenant House Missouri. Duties include client and visitor centered interaction. The front desk attendant greets visitors in person or by phone, answers or refers inquiries, and maintains security by following policies and procedures, monitoring logbooks and visitor management, and secures premises and occupants by monitoring surveillance equipment. The incumbent also supports non-residential, community youth in accessing the support services available at Covenant House Missouri, including securing basic needs, scheduling appointments with Support Service staff, and providing referrals to external community resources as appropriate.

: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Summary of duties (Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following):
- Front Desk Support
- Acknowledge and welcome all incoming visitors, clients, and staff immediately and respectfully.
- Answer all incoming calls and refer inquiries to appropriate staff, taking messages when necessary.
- Ensure the facility is secure at all times by monitoring surveillance equipment and alerting appropriate staff to threats.
- Maintain an ongoing presence at the front desk unless time away is coordinated with a supervisor or team member.
- Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and clients following policies and procedures.
- Establish rapport and maintain appropriate boundaries with all visitors, clients, and staff.
- Securely wand/inspect client belongings according to search protocol and operate detecting devices to screen individuals and prevent prohibited articles from entering restricted areas.
- Assist with safety related drills.
- Youth Support
- Establish and maintain good relationships with clients, while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Provide basic needs support including shower, laundry, and food pantry services.
- Provide information or refer individuals to established public or private agencies or community services for assistance.
- Role model positive behaviors and coping skills for youth, using a strength-based approach and Trauma-Informed Care concepts.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to identify best approaches for youth services in the Employment Program and advocate for youth needs.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Establish working relationships with team members; participate in trainings and staff meetings.
- Act in accordance with organizational and legal protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Record and maintain required paperwork and documentation according to policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
High school diploma. Two (2) years applicable experience.
Salary
: $16.10 - $18.21 per hour
