Job DescriptionPosition
Description:
This position implements the facilitation, monitoring, documenting and reporting of youth program activities of FFSC. Provide assistance to improve the social and psychological functioning of children and their families to maximize the family’s well-being and academic functioning of the children.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities- Become acquainted with youth curriculum and be able to tailor curriculum to meet the needs of each individual.
- Prepare and submit for review sessions at assigned schools on a consistent basis.
- Present educational materials, information, and outlets to youth on social issues that they are faced with on a regular basis (self-esteem, values, teen pregnancy prevention, substance abuse awareness, peer pressure, violence prevention, and other related topics).
- Interview youths to assess situations, capabilities, and problems to determine services that meets their needs.
- Serve as liaison between youths, home, school, family services, courts, and others to help resolve youth issues and daily life problems.
- Collect documentation from youths and involved entities to maintain case history, records, and reports.
- Assist with parental and family counseling and provide other resources as needed.
- Gather information about youth’s background, needs, and progress.
- Advocate for youth and community needs.
- Attend community fairs.
Skills and Abilities
- Must have knowledge of human behavior, performance, differences, personality, and interests.
- Must be knowledgeable of current issues affecting and be able to relate to at-risk youth.
- Must be able to give undivided attention, listen, understand, inform effectively, and offer advice.
- Must possess the ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong and advise accordingly.
- Must understand and practice the NASW code of ethics
- Must be able to utilize agency and community resources to meet goals
- Must have general knowledge of legislation affecting fathers
- Must be team oriented and be able to work independently
- Must be familiar with MS Office Suite
- Must have a high school diploma or GED, plus 1-2 years’ experience in working with at risk youths.
- Associates Degree preferred.
- Must possess a valid Missouri driver’s license and have a reliable, insured vehicle
