The Missouri Department of Social Services (DSS) empowers individuals and families across the state to lead safe, healthy, and productive lives. DSS provides a variety of programs focused on public assistance for children and parents, access to healthcare, child support enforcement, and specialized services for at-risk youth. The department is comprised of several divisions, including the Division of Youth Services, which specifically focuses on supporting and rehabilitating youth.
The mission of DSS is to provide programs that reduce financial dependency and address critical social needs within Missouri communities.
This is a full‑time on‑site role based in St. Louis, MO, for a Youth Service Worker. The Youth Service Worker will be responsible for supervising and mentoring youth, facilitating group activities, and implementing support programmes to promote positive behaviour and personal development. The role also includes developing impactful relationships with young individuals, providing guidance, and maintaining a safe and supportive environment within the framework of the Division of Youth Services guidelines.
Qualifications- Experience in Youth Work and Youth Services, with a demonstrated ability to engage and support young individuals
- Background in Social Work and proficiency in providing assistance and resources to meet community needs
- Skills in Youth Mentoring and fostering supportive, trust‑based relationships
- Strong Communication abilities, including active listening and clear articulation
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and with diverse populations
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, or a related field is preferred
- Prior experience working with at‑risk or underserved youth is a plus
