Parent Educators earn an hourly rate of $23/hour
What you will do:Empower parents with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to create a healthy family environment
- Provide home and community services to assigned case load (9-11 parents and their respective children)
- Develop and implement lesson and program plans for children of PLT families
- Assist with the development of the Individual Family Service Plan for assigned caseload
- Assistwithappropriate parent-childoutingsand act as a positive role model
- Coordinate and track medical and dental appointments of PLT children
- Respond to the parenting needs of families enrolled in the PLT program
- Assist with medical decisions in emergency situations
- Support parents with decision making; crisis and non-crisis situations, utilizingperson-centered philosophy
- Participate insupport plan meeting sand other conferencesregardingclient needs
- Attend necessary educational meetingsregardingschool-aged PLT children
- Maintain assigned clients’ records and reports withinidentifiedguidelines and timelines
- Maintain foodand program supplies as directed by the Program Coordinator
- Develop andmaintainrelationships with otherserviceproviders to identify resources for families

- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Associate degree in Child Development or related field preferred
- Two or more years of experience working with parents with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities or mental health disorders in a social services environment
We look forward to welcoming someone with the following knowledge and skills:
- Knowledge of intellectual and developmental disabilities, support needs, community resources, funding sources, compliance standards, and documentation requirements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and use program-related software and systems
- Strong communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with families, coworkers, service providers, and other community partners
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion when supporting families and responding to routine and crisis situations
- Ability to develop, plan, and implement engaging programming and activities that meet the needs of children and families
