Role:
Staff Software Engineer – lead development of data infrastructure, data services & analytics systems to collect, process, transform and analyze large, complex agronomic and geospatial datasets; oversee the design & implementation of scalable data processing systems and data pipelines; lead design & code reviews; implement algorithms & services for precision agriculture applications; mentor & train junior engineers.
Requirements: Master’s in C.S., C.I.S., I.T. or closely-related field & 2 yrs experience in IT-related positions: designing & developing software applications in Python, Java, React.js and Scala; developing, preparing, testing & validating scientific models and algorithms against agronomic and environmental datasets for production; building REST APIs, Graph
QL & microservices using AWS and GCP, including ECS, EC3, Step Functions, SQS, SNS, Dynamo
DB, RDS, S3 and Lambda; working with distributed platforms, including Hadoop, Big Query, Spark and Kafka for agricultural and environmental data warehouse; implementing data pipelines in Git Lab to conduct daily builds, tests & production deployments within an agricultural environment; design, develop & maintain micro-services for generating recommendations for agronomists and agronomic advisors; conduct system monitoring & support using Datadog, Open Search, New Relic and Pager Duty.
Will also accept a Bachelor’s in above fields & 5 yrs progressive, post-Bachelor’s stated experience. Candidate must be willing to provide on‑call support 24 hrs/day for a two‑wk period per month. Up to 10% U.S. travel req’d. Telecommuting permitted.
Salary & Benefits: Salary Range: $ to $. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission. Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. Salary may vary within this range based on location, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, degrees and certifications, and other factors.
