The primary role of the Receiving Coordinator is to ensure accurate data and reporting related to inventory management. Responsibilities include maintaining product inventories with a comprehensive understanding of database management. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with inventory control experience in a warehouse environment who is a team-player willing to do what it takes to help the team get the job done accurately and in a timely manner.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Physically unload and perform visual inspection of inbound freight. Document the temperature of frozen and refrigerated items and determine if the items received meet all food safety standards in order to be distributed accordingly.
  • Perform data entry for all items by preparing appropriate invoices and shipping labels using Microsoft Dynamic software. The Foodbank uses CERES 5.1 (programming that is proprietary to Feeding America) as our warehouse management system.
  • Create receipts in Web-Based Supply Chain Management as required by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to document the Foodbank's receipt of government product.
  • Coordinate the storage and rotation of products in an efficient, organized and safe fashion.
  • Work with Foodbank team members in various departments to ensure all items are labeled and stored accurately. Rotate and remove product as directed.
  • Escalate any issues related to quality of items and/or accuracy of inventory to Operations management for resolution.
  • On a daily basis, provide inventory reports to Operations management.
  • Conduct accurate count of physical inventory and report discrepancies in a timely manner to Operations management for resolution.
  • Research and resolve inventory discrepancies by identifying root causes, collaborate on solutions, and make recommendations for future process improvements.
  • Responsible for following policies and procedures related to food safety and equipment safety.
  • Take an active role in modeling and reinforcing safe work practices.
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior warehouse experience required. A minimum of 2 years of past warehouse experience is preferred.
  • Previous inventory control experience preferred.
  • Skilled in the operation of standard warehouse equipment including various forklifts (stand up and walkie riders) strongly preferred. Upon hire, must obtain forklift certification within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Experience with safety standards and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements a plus.
  • Passion for the Foodbank's mission and the ability to demonstrate SLAFB's Core Values:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite of Applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) preferred.
  • Past data entry experience preferred.
  • Previous experience and comfortability with using web-based systems preferred.
  • Excellent time management skills required as well as the ability to multi-task effectively. Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail, able to handle interruptions, and maintain focus on tasks to produce accurate work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Prior non-profit experience preferred.
  • Must be able to pass drug screening and criminal background check.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in warehouse with a significant amount of walking on concrete surfaces. Entrances may be open and work conditions during the summer months can be hot, and during the winter cold. Employees may be going in and out of freezers and coolers with extreme variations in temperature. Workspace could be dusty and on occasions can be noisy due to the traffic of motorized vehicles operated in the building.

Periodically may work outside and be exposed to the elements. Employees may be exposed to spoiled food and sharp objects due to working with damaged product. Work involves moving boxes and employees must lift, bend, stoop, pick up and move objects up to 75 pounds. Work involves using manual pallet jacks and therefore requires an ability to push and pull pallets over 2,000 pounds.

Work

Schedule
  • Monday - Friday onsite at the Foodbank facility and in the community as needed.
  • Occasional weekend (Saturday/Sunday) or evening hours may be required.
