General Description/Position Summary
The primary role of the Receiving Associate is to ensure accurate data and reporting related to inventory management. Responsibilities include maintaining product inventories with a comprehensive understanding of database management. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with inventory control experience in a warehouse environment who is a team player willing to do what it takes to help the team get the job done to support the St.
Louis Area Foodbank nourish, empower, and transform the communities we serve in the bi-state region.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Physically unload and perform visual inspection of inbound freight.
- Inspect freight bills, confirm delivery address and temperature settings listed (if required).
- Document the temperature of frozen and refrigerated items and determine fitness of items for distribution.
- Verify pallet/case quantities with BOL and/or packing list.
- Monitor quality of inbound freight and escalate quality issues for resolution.
- Perform data entry for all items by preparing appropriate invoices and shipping labels using the Ceres inventory management system.
- Create domestic goods receipts in the Ceres inventory management system as required.
- Coordinate the storage and rotation of product in an efficient, organized, and safe fashion.
- Work with Warehouse Associates and Receiving Coordinator to ensure all items are labeled and stored accurately. Rotate and remove product as directed.
- Assist the Inventory Control Manager with reports as needed.
- Perform cycle counts of physical inventory.
- Support the Inventory Control Manager as needed/directed with researching and resolving inventory discrepancies.
- Identify inventory discrepancy causes and collaborate with fellow team members on resolutions and make recommendations for future improvement.
- Assist with monthly distribution preparation, tracking and reconciliation.
- Support the distribution process to meet customer needs.
- Take an active role in reinforcing safe work practices.
- Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior warehouse experience required.
- Skilled in the operation of standard warehouse equipment including stand up forklifts and rider pallet jacks strongly preferred.
- Ability to work, on a regular rotation, in a freezer/refrigerated environment.
- Experience with safety standards and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements a plus.
- Proficient in basic math.
- Computer literate.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail, ability to handle interruptions, maintain focus on tasks and produce accurate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions
Work is performed in a warehouse with a significant amount of walking on concrete surfaces. Entrances may be open and work conditions during the summer months can be hot and cold during the winter. Employee will be going in and out of freezers and coolers with extreme variations in temperature. Workspace could be dusty and on occasions can be noisy due to the traffic of motorized vehicles operated in the building.
Periodically may work outside and be exposed to the elements. Employee may be exposed to spoiled food and sharp objects due to working with damaged product. Work involves moving boxes and employee must lift, bend, stoop, pick up and move objects up to 75 pounds. Work involves using manual pallet jacks and therefore requires an ability to push and pull pallets over 2,000 pounds.
