POSITION SUMMARY:

Safely monitors and performs quality functions. Meets CMM target checks/shift, reacts to SPC out-of-control conditions and check sheets, and generates accurate work output. Communicates well with Machining First Line Supervisor, Finishing Inspectors and Utility Operators on quality problems as they arise. Performs other duties, as assigned by the QA Manager, Quality Engineer and First Line Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Operation of Brown & Sharpe Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), variety of hand gauges, Datamyte, Runout & Balance machines and
Reading and interpreting prints.
Monitor appearance of wheels to ensure cutting tools are sharp and order tool changes, if necessary.
Use of various variable and attribute gages to perform dimensional validation of wheels.
SPC knowledge, including interpretation of charts.
Tool and zero offsets adjustments in various types of machining equipment (Mori Seiki, Okuma, Mazak, Emco, and Chiron).
Check and adjust tool paths in every machining wheel program to meet customer specifications.
Editing machining center programs to adjust valve and true positions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Associate is exposed to indoor work environment with >90 degree F temperatures in summer months.
CMM room is environmentally controlled and provided with an air conditioner.
Associate must be able to tolerate machine coolant.

POSITION

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
Reading, writing and math skills. Ability to comprehend and follow written procedures.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of S.P.C.
Computer knowledge
- Windows software.
Knowledge in CNC machining - Minimum 1 year experience.
Knowledge of all wheel characteristics measured on the CMM.
