Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Stepdown Telemetry position caring for surgical and cath lab patients requiring advanced cardiac monitoring.

• Work in a hospital stepdown unit with a focus on surgical and cath lab patient populations
• Typical patient ratios are 4:1 on days and 4-5:1 on nights
• Responsibilities include care for patients with chest tubes, epicardial wires, and sheath/radial band management
• Requires experience with cardiac drips such as Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin (NTG), and Cardizem
• Advanced EKG/dysrhythmia testing required for competency assessment
• Night shift position with three 12-hour shifts per week from 19:00 to 07:00
• Weekend and holiday shifts are covered by rotation
• Must be familiar with management of chest tubes, epicardial wires, and vascular access devices such as sheaths and radial bands
• Experience required with cardiac medications administered as intravenous drips
• Night shift assignment with a rotating schedule for weekends and holidays
• A reduced pay rate applies for travelers living within a 75-mile radius of the facility

• Active KY or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years recent stepdown or telemetry experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
• Experience with surgical and cath lab patient care required
• Must pass advanced dysrhythmia (EKG) exam
