As a Data Center Technician, you will provide hands‑on support for a mission‑critical data center environment, ensuring the reliable operation of infrastructure that supports essential technology services. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting data center equipment, including servers, racks, cabling, and supporting facility systems.
You will assist with equipment staging, inventory management, and day‑to‑day operations, while also responding to incidents and service requests to help restore normal operations. The position works closely with internal teams, vendors, and customers to deliver consistent, high‑quality data center services.
This position requires an employee to be onsite in Saint Paul, Minnesota with the option to telework occasionally.
Minimum QualificationsPosition requires a minimum of two (2) years of IT related experience in data center operations, infrastructure support, or enterprise hardware environments.
Experience Must Include- Diagnosing and resolving hardware or infrastructure issues in technical environments, as well as installing and supporting data center and IT equipment such as servers, racks, and cabling.
- Applying standard practices and procedures used in the repair, installation, and maintenance of electronic equipment such as data, voice, video communication systems, computer systems, storage systems, network equipment, and cabling.
- Maintaining technical documentation, inventory records, or ticketing systems.
- Working with data center operations, facilities systems, or monitoring tools (e.g., DCIM or similar platforms).
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a manner that facilitates mutual understanding.
- Customer‑focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution‑oriented problem‑solving to deliver positive user experience.
Education in Information Technology (IT) or an IT related field may substitute for experience as follows: a master’s degree for eighteen (18) months of experience; a bachelor’s degree for one (1) year; and an associate’s degree for six (6) months.
Preferred Qualifications- Knowledge of data center infrastructure systems, including power distribution, UPS, generators, or cooling systems.
- Experience using DCIM tools or infrastructure monitoring systems to track assets and environmental conditions.
- Knowledge of data center best practices, including cabling standards, labeling, and hot/cold aisle containment.
- Experience supporting equipment staging, shipping/receiving, or asset lifecycle management.
- Experience working with vendors, contractors, or cross‑functional technical teams to complete installation or maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a 24x7 enterprise or mission‑critical data center environment.
- Power Limited Technician Certification.
Ability to lift up to fifty pounds (50 lbs.) and perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching, and using ladders.
