The work you'll do is more than just a job.

At the State of Minnesota, employees play a critical role in developing policies, providing essential services, and working to improve the well‑being and quality of life for all Minnesotans. The State of Minnesota is committed to equity and inclusion, and invests in employees by providing benefits, support resources, and training and development opportunities.

The International Marketing Student Worker will analyze federal and state data to identify top global markets for Minnesota food and agricultural products. This includes developing clear, data-driven market profiles for priority commodities and foreign markets—for example, mapping Minnesota soybean export destinations or outlining demand trends and product volumes in markets such as Mexico. The student will help design the structure and visual style of the team’s inaugural annual report and begin drafting key sections.

This report will highlight MDA’s international trade strategies, activities, and outcomes—both qualitative and quantitative—for audiences such as the Minnesota Legislature, international delegations, and partner organizations. Beyond these core projects, the student will have opportunities to engage with other MDA programs related to agriculture, economic development, and local food systems, gaining broad exposure to the agency’s work.

During the initial training period, this position will report full-time to the St. Paul office. Upon completion of initial training, the position may be eligible for telework.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of at least two years of post‑secondary education in agriculture, communications, international studies, economics, marketing, business management, or a related field.
  • Experience or coursework in qualitative and/or quantitative research and data analysis.
  • Ability to communicate, influence and persuade a diverse audience both orally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy.
  • The ability to celebrate diversity and a strong commitment to a respectful and inclusive work environment.
