Overview

In this position you will work in PERA’s member call center to deliver PERA benefit information and respond to stakeholder inquiries of a routine nature, either by phone, in person or in writing. You will explain the PERA benefits and options that meet their financial goals and needs, and help members understand the value of retirement planning specific to PERA benefits.

In addition, you may perform routine and some manual calculations; some calculations will be audited.

This position is telework eligible and offers a hybrid work schedule, based on agency and department needs and other dependencies. Scheduled in‑office workdays will be at PERA’s office at 60 Empire Drive, Suite 200, St. Paul, Minnesota 55103.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of experience in retirement planning, program administration, or financial services.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance may substitute for one (1) year of experience.
Years Of Experience Must Clearly Demonstrate The Following
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills to evaluate facts, draw conclusions, and offer recommendations.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office software.
  • Experience performing routine mathematical calculations.
  • Experience providing explanation of benefits or administering employee benefits.
  • Ability to communicate with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities, languages, or other common experiences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of public pension plans.
  • Experience working in a high‑volume call center with the primary focus of delivering customer service and administering retirement benefits, including benefit plan policy interpretation and explanations.
  • Knowledge of Minnesota Statutes Chapters 353 and 356, relating to benefits and membership eligibility of the Association.
  • Knowledge of the 45 Police and Fire Relief Association, and Statewide Volunteer Firefighter (SVF) pension plans.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance.
