Administrative Assistant House Public Information Services
Full‑time temporary at‑will positions are available with the Minnesota House of Representatives as administrative assistants for the nonpartisan Public Information Services office. Candidates with part‑time availability may be considered.
This is a front desk, customer service position with duties that include:
- Answering phone calls
- Responding to in‑person inquiries
- Processing and uploading video files
- Providing quality assurance and proofing of department content
- Providing other department support services during the 2026 legislative session
Must have strong public relations skills, excellent phone manners, an ability to do a variety of office tasks, and a willingness to take direction and requests from other staff. Accuracy and attention to detail are critical. Some irregular hours may be required.
A working knowledge of Microsoft Office word processing, database, and spreadsheet software is required. Must have a demonstrated ability to adapt to changing technology and systems. Journalism and/or social media experience is a plus. The ability to lift 40 pounds for purposes of publication delivery and inventory management is required. An understanding of state government and the legislative process is helpful.
Hourly wage is $26.43‑$47.57 commensurate with experience. These positions are anticipated to begin in mid‑February and run approximately through the end of May, depending on session length.
The office supports the mission of the House of Representatives via nonpartisan news and information services including reporting on committees and floor sessions, informational publications, photography, and television coverage.
