About the Job
Community Education Sepecialist (8312CB Ed Pro 2 – Community Based Ed and outreach) for the Midwest AIDS Training and Education Center (MATEC), Minnesota and Iowa site. The position is full-time temporary through September 2026 and may be extended depending on funding and performance.
Starting Salary depends on qualifications, experience, and internal equity: $26.93‑$31.25 per hour or $56,000‑$65,000 annually.
Work Arrangements
: hybrid – approximately 70 % remote, 30 % in‑person. Occasionally travels to Iowa and elsewhere outside the Twin Cities. University‑configured equipment and technology support provided; reliable internet connection required for remote duties. Onsite location:
West Bank Office Building (WBOB), 1300 S 2nd St, Minneapolis.
Schedule
: flexible with occasional evening and weekend hours to meet program participants’ needs. A working cell phone and valid driver’s license are required.
Center Description The Midwest AIDS Training and Education Center is a federal and state‑funded training center providing HIV/AIDS clinical education, skills building, and professional development to health‑care professionals, social service providers, and others who influence the HIV epidemic. MATEC partners with leading clinicians and researchers in the region to enhance workforce capacity and improve care for people living with HIV.
ResponsibilitiesProject Management – 40 %
- Serve as main point of contact and lead 1‑2 grant‑funded projects.
- Coordinate educational opportunities (didactic trainings, interactive trainings, webinars, clinical preceptorships, technical assistance, consultations, case presentations).
- Liaise with project leadership to design, revise, implement, expand, adapt, evaluate, report, and disseminate tailored workforce development programs.
- Daily project management to meet goals and maintain stakeholder relationships.
- Attend virtual meetings, take action‑oriented notes.
- Prepare clinical training and administrative materials.
- Provide administrative support: develop and manage project timelines, oversee program planning and execution with partners.
- Build and maintain a presenter, trainee, and stakeholder database and mailing list via Constant Contact and other platforms.
- Support colleagues on other projects as needed.
- Handle other grant responsibilities (reporting, data entry, etc.).
Accounting – 40 %
- Long‑range fiscal planning, contract and grant applications, financial reports.
- Establish programming budgets, manage grant budgets, create projected budgets for funding.
- Support reporting and develop fiscal and programmatic reports to funders.
- Make purchases, monitor and approve expenditures, process contracts and financial paperwork timely and accurately.
- Reconcile purchasing card accounts; initiate travel authorizations, advance payments, and contracts for professional services; reconcile receipts for purchase orders.
- Maintain current knowledge of University fiscal policy and serve as a resource to staff.
- Review service statements (invoices) for accuracy.
- Liaise with accountant, leadership, and staff on program needs.
Travel – 15 %
- Travel to Iowa, Minnesota, or elsewhere for in‑person meetings and trainings.
- Prepare travel arrangements (hotels, rental cars, materials).
Other responsibilities as needed (e.g., supervising student worker(s)) – 5 %
QualificationsAll required qualifications must be included in the application materials.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS plus at least 2 years of experience or an advanced degree or a combination of related education and experience equal to six years.
- Effective interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Accounting experience (accounts payable, budgeting, purchasing, etc.).
- Comfort with and sensitivity to diverse lifestyles, cultures, and communities.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Ability to multi‑task and handle multiple ongoing projects.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful workplace.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Qualtrics (or other survey software), Zoom, Adobe, Asana, Canva, Canvas, and marketing systems such as Constant Contact.
