The work you'll do

This position is located at Central Office in St. Paul and may have the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor and will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.

The Aeronautics Communications Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all internal and external communications and outreach efforts specific to the Office of Aeronautics, in close collaboration with the MnDOT Communications Office. The role will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive Aeronautics Strategic Communications Plan. This position serves as the primary liaison for communications with internal and external partners, including MnDOT divisions, other state agencies, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), airport sponsors and staff, consultants, aviation stakeholders, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of advanced professional communications experience demonstrating:
  • Experience in developing and managing strategic communications plans and outreach initiatives,
  • Experience in creating and implementing digital media campaigns, including managing social media platforms and maintaining accessibility standards (e.g., ADA compliance),
  • Experience interpreting and communicating complex regulatory requirements across multiple communication media platforms.
  • Note:

    A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Communications, Journalism or a closely related field substitutes for six months of advanced professional communications experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Communications experience in a government, transportation, or aviation‑related setting.
  • Experience in developing survey questions and using online survey tools such as Formstack and Microsoft Forms.
  • Proficiency in designing and editing content using Adobe Creative Cloud tools (Acrobat Pro, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and modern photo editing platforms such as Adobe Lightroom, Affinity Photo, and Canva.
