Boating Specialist (Project Management) About the Opportunity
The Minnesota JCC is seeking Boating Specialists for the 2026 summer camp season. This is a seasonal position supervised by the Camp Director. Camp Specialists are talented people who share their special skills or expertise in their program area with the camp community by planning and leading camp programming. The Boating Specialist will be responsible for creating exciting, age‑appropriate, safe, and welcoming waterfront programming for all campers specialist will complete program forms detailing the activities they will be running each week with the campers.
They will be responsible for submitting supplies requests, maintaining camp equipment used as part of programming, and engaging the campers and staff in all planned activities. Valid American Red Cross Lifeguard and Waterfront certifications are required through August 22nd. The Minnesota JCC will provide training if needed.
Monday‑Friday, 8‑hour daily shifts, earliest arrival is 8:30 am and latest departure is 4:30 pm.
Base Compensation$121/day (based on an 8‑hour workday). Plus opportunities for additional pay/bonuses.
Essential Functions- Responsible for being conscious of and protecting the health, safety, and welfare of all campers in any area or programs at camp.
- Plan and lead fun and exciting activity rotations with a creative focus on the specialty content area, for campers of a variety of ages, with a goal of inspiring campers to try new things and/or grow skills and interests.
- Outline area programs for the week, specifying activities for each age group and skills to be taught at their developmental level. Responsible for recording planning on weekly lesson plan sheets.
- In addition to regularly scheduled camp days, attend and contribute to pre‑camp training sessions, regularly scheduled staff meetings and training sessions once camp is in session. Participate in the open house and any family events.
- Responsible for maintenance of assigned area and any equipment. Keep inventory of equipment and request supplies as needed.
- In conjunction with other specialists and senior camp staff, design and implement All Camp weekly and specialty programs based on the weekly themes.
- Promote safety within your area, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.
- Other tasks as assigned by the camp leaders.
