Camp Butwin:
Equestrian Specialist (Creative Design)

The Minnesota JCC seeks a seasonal Equestrian Specialist for the 2026 summer camp season. Camp Specialists share their special skills or expertise in their program area with the camp community by planning and leading camp programming. Under the supervision of the Equestrian Director, the Equestrian Specialist will be responsible for creating exciting, age appropriate, safe, and welcoming programming for all campers  specialist will complete program forms detailing the activities they will be running each week with the campers.

They will be responsible for submitting supplies requests, maintaining camp equipment used as part of programming, and engaging the campers and staff in all planned activities.

Daily

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8-hour daily shifts, earliest arrival 8:30am, latest departure 4:30pm.

Base Compensation: $121 day (based on an 8-hour workday). Plus opportunities for additional pay/bonuses.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for being conscious of and protecting the health, safety, and welfare of all campers in any area or programs at camp.
  • Plan and lead fun and exciting activity rotations with a creative focus on the specialty content area for campers of a variety of ages, with a goal of inspiring campers to try new things and/or grow skills and interests.
  • Outline area programs for the week, specifying activities for each age group and skills to be taught at their developmental level.
  • Record planning on weekly lesson plan sheets.
  • Attend and contribute to pre-camp training sessions, regularly scheduled staff meetings and training sessions once camp is in session.
  • Participate in the open house and any family events.
  • Maintain assigned area and any equipment, keep inventory of equipment and request supplies as needed.
  • Clean-up of horse area, pasture, and all areas throughout camp that horses have been.
  • Design and implement All Camp weekly and specialty programs based on the weekly themes in conjunction with other specialists and senior camp staff.
  • Promote safety within your area, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the camp leaders.
