Job SummaryThe head coach leads the girls’ swimming and diving program, promotes a positive team culture, and supports student-athletes in their overall growth. The coach is responsible for planning, communication, supervision, and ensuring all activities follow school and MSHSL guidelines.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and deliver daily practice plans that build skills, conditioning, and confidence for swimmers and divers.
- Teach proper technique, fundamentals, and safe training habits.
- Oversee and mentor assistant coaches.
- Build a team environment that values sportsmanship, effort, and respect.
- Ensure all athletes meet eligibility, training, and safety requirements.
- Communicate clearly with athletes, parents, and the activities office.
- Coordinate meet lineups, entries, and event strategies.
- Manage and maintain team equipment and request replacements as needed.
- Organize and supervise all practices, meets, team events, and travel.
- Support athletes academically and encourage responsible behavior in and out of the pool.
- Collaborate with the activities office on scheduling, paperwork, budgets, and roster management.
- Promote the program in the school and community.
- Follow all MSHSL rules, district policies, and facility procedures.
- Prior coaching or competitive swimming/diving experience preferred.
- Ability to teach skills effectively at all levels.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, families, and staff.
- Current required certifications (CPR/AED, first aid, and any MSHSL-required training).
- Commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.
