* Job Description:
** The Dean of the College of Sciences (COS) is charged to provide the leadership to meet the strategic needs of the university, students, COS faculty and staff, and our community partners. Specific responsibilities of the position include strategic planning for the college in alignment with the university strategic plan, recruitment and selection of faculty and staff, building and fostering cooperative relationships, and managing the finances and budget of the College, program evaluation and development, community outreach, and fund raising.
The dean provides vision for the development of resources and services that meet the scholarly and intellectual needs of the university community and works closely with other university officers to advance the overall needs of the university. The dean is directly responsible for supervision of key staff and the evaluation of faculty based on their professional development plans, carrying out the activities related to promotion and tenure.
The dean is the chief administrative officer for the college and as such they are responsible for the planning, organization, development, implementation, assessment, and direction of all aspects of the College. The dean will ensure effective shared governance that balances the role of faculty in oversight of academic curriculum, faculty and staff contracts, and the administration of programs in the college.
In addition, the dean must develop effective collaboration with two-year partner institutions, employers, and other community organizations to benefit our students.

Maintain an educational environment which support the interests and needs of underrepresented groups and meet Equity 2030 goals.
* Ensure high quality innovative academic programs for the College of Sciences and contribute to their growth. Promote the college’s educational and research activities. Coordinate the overall assessment and evaluation of the College’s programs.
* Provide leadership and supervision that emphasize a commitment to inclusion and equity in the recruitment, hiring, promotion, tenure, evaluation, and professional development of faculty and staff of the College of Sciences. Direct the work of faculty and staff, including the approval of faculty assignments and staff position descriptions, training, and orientation of new employees, approval and/or critique of work and performance, and approval of time records and leave requests.
* Develop and strengthen cooperative arrangements with other institutions to expand and improve services to the university faculty, students, and the broader community.
* Represent the university within the academic community and in professionally related activities of the local, state, regional, and national levels, and build relationships with organizations to support the work of the College of Sciences.
* Participate in university planning, policy-making, and executive leadership. Manage complex tasks and adapt to changing institutional priorities using a collaborative and collegial work style.
* Lead advocacy and strategic planning for the college to support growth, and meeting physical, financial, personnel, and academic support needs.
* Provide leadership for college specialized accreditation activities as warranted (e.g., ABET, or others).
