Position Overview

The Belonging & Enrichment Coordinator plays a vital role in shaping an inclusive, engaged, and thriving student community within the College of Science and Engineering (CSE). This student‑centered position is ideal for a team player passionate about student development and inclusion in STEM education. The coordinator implements and shapes programs that foster belonging, leadership, and academic success for all CSE students, supporting initiatives such as Women in Science and Engineering (WISE), the Community of Diverse Engineers and Scientists (CODES), CSE Living Learning Communities, and student organizations that help students find connection and purpose in and beyond the classroom.

The hybrid work environment requires a minimum of three days on campus, along with intermittent evening and weekend commitments supporting events and programs. Salary ranges from $55,280.91 to $62,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

Position Responsibilities

45% Student Belonging Programming and Initiatives

  • Coordinate and implement programming for the WISE Initiative and CODES program, supporting underrepresented and under‑supported students through facilitated study groups, community‑building activities, professional development opportunities, and other program logistics.
  • Integrate an inclusive and justice‑minded framework into every stage of program development, from goal setting and design to implementation and evaluation.
  • Co‑manage programmatic budgets and funding proposals to support program implementation and sustainability.
  • Foster collaborative partnerships with CSE identity‑based student organizations and co‑develop impactful events.
  • Contribute to and support quantitative and qualitative data evaluation tools, using results to inform future programming.
  • Collaborate with student services colleagues to offer comprehensive support to the CSE cohort of President's Emerging Scholars (PES) through tracking student progress and intervening to support persistence and success.
  • Support the Rooted in STEM outreach program and the CSE Outreach Coordinator by attending monthly Saturday sessions, engaging with high school participants, and providing direction to CSE student mentors.
  • Contribute to planning and execution of the annual CSE Community Impact Awards that recognize outstanding students, faculty, and staff for their inclusive contributions.

45% Student Enrichment Coordination and Support

  • Coordinate CSE student organization support services, including planning of organization fairs, informal student group advising, and guidance for participation in collegiate events such as Homecoming and Family Weekend.
  • Lead logistics for collegiate events such as CSE Week, coaching student leaders, recruiting sponsorship, managing the event planning cycle, and identifying philanthropic opportunities.
  • Oversee strategic programming for CSE Living Learning Communities, including the CSE CODES House and the CSE Second Year Experience House.
  • Support mental health initiatives within CSE, including logistics for professionally led support groups and co‑managing the CSE Care Corner initiative.
  • Manage hiring and oversight for approximately 20 student employees, providing leadership coaching and developmental guidance.
  • Guide student staff through the full lifecycle of event planning—from idea conception to promotion, logistics, and execution.
  • Co‑manage programmatic budgets and funding proposals to support program implementation and sustainability.

10% Instruction, Professional Development & Service

  • Potentially teach one section of CSE 1001:
    First Year Experience during the fall semester, attending training sessions, holding weekly office hours, and coordinating with an undergraduate teaching assistant.
  • Serve on Student Services, College, and University‑wide committees as requested.
  • Engage actively with equity, diversity, and inclusion work, training, certificates, and other opportunities through the Office of Equity and Diversity.
